Weekend Fun!!

Hey everyone!! It's been a while since I wrote and as my year as Miss Litchfield County is slowly drawing to an end, the new pageant season is beginning!!! Miss Bristol was an excellent show a few weekends ago, and I send a big congrats to both Nicole and Que!!! This weekend I will be at the 40th Miss Wolcott pageant as well, so best of luck to all the girls- especially my lovely roomie CC!! It's going to be a great time!! Next weekend there's another pageant, Miss Rocky Hill and Miss Hartford County and I will actually be competing for a 2009 title, so I hope to see you all there!!
However, my year as Miss Litchfield County is far from over! I will be judging a fall pie eating contest Saturday morning and I am most definitely looking forward to some delicious apple pie!! Also the Saturday after Thanksgiving you'll find me at Thomaston's Light Up the Town! So many appearances so little time, it's going to be a blast!!
Now, to all the girls who are thinking about competing on January 3rd- GO FOR IT!!! Being Miss Litchfield County thus far has been a great experience!! We are going to have a fun filled pageant weekend where we crown a new Baby, Little, Junior, Teen and Miss Litchfield County!!! I mean, I am not at all looking forward to giving my title away (sorry girls!) but it must be done so I encourage you girls to participate!!! It is a great opportunity! I will hopefully post some pictures of this upcomming weekends events, but for now I must do some homework!!! Talk to you soon, and maybe I'll see you around this weekend!!

Summertime!!!

Hey everyone!!! I hope this blog finds everyone well as I realize it's been a long while since I last posted!! I have my first Miss Connecticut pageant under my belt and it was an absolutely amazing experience!!! I've also been busy getting ready for my freshman year at Hofstra University where I'll be persuing a double major in theatre arts and marketing. Orientation was an amazing experience and I look forward to an awesome year!! Currently I am getting ready for my final family vacation before I'm off to college- our yearly camping excursion! On Sunday we leave for a week in the wilderness! (Though Strawberry Park in Preston, CT isn't really roughing it per say...)
Then when I get back on Sunday I will be leaving with my college roomate CC to attend auditions for THE American Idol in East Rutherford, NJ! So wish me luck because I am soooo excited!!! I'm adding some pictures onto this post from Miss Connecticut week, so I hope you enjoy! I'll also hopefully be seeing ya'll around soon at the Bethlehem Fair in September!! Keep smiling!!

Current Events!!

Currently my life is all about reading and being up to date on current events in order to make sure my interview for Miss Connecticut is on point!! Ridiculous gas prices, the war in Iraq, 2008 Presidential election- all these things are fair game! However there are some current events in my life which I have to share with you all today!

First off, I am a officially a high school graduate!! I will be attending Hofstra University in the fall and it's incredibly weird to say I'm a college freshman, but life is good!

Secondly, Miss CT week is drawing closer!! I am getting more and more excited!! I found out that my roommate will be Morgan, Miss North Haven and I'm thrilled I got paired with her!! But before I go off to compete for the title of Miss Connecticut there is one event I would like to make you all aware of- MY SEND-OFF PARTY!!!!

The Sandals & Shorts Send-off will be held on Sunday June 22nd from 6-10pm. It is being held in the pavilion at the Grand Oak Villa in Oakville, CT and I hope to see you all there!!! The cost in $15.00 per person owing to the fact that there is going to be an all you can eat BBQ Buffet!!! There will also be entertainment, dancing and all around goodtimes! So please come out and support me in my endeavor to become the next Miss Connecticut!!

I'm pretty sure that's all for now! But as always, I'll keep ya posted!!!

Memorial Day!

Hello everyone!!! This weekend was absolutely insane!!! Not only was I all over the state but I participated in four parades with the Litchfield County team!!! Friday night began with a prom at the Aquaturf for Bristol Central, and then I was awake bright and early Saturday morning for my first Parade in Burlington! Then Saturday night I had my senior prom at the Palace theatre in Waterbury and Sunday I was up again for Woodburry's Memorial Day Parade!! I then drove out to Old Lyme for a night on the beach with my senior class (as this is our last weekend before graduation) and then I awoke literally at the crack of dawn to drive back to Watertown where I met Nancy, Annalisa, Maggie, Melissa and Brianna for a double dose of memorial day parades in both Thomaston and Harwington! We had a terrific time and everyone we met was both supportive and receptive of our titleholders and organization and I was very happy for that!
However I'd like to share one experience I had this weekend which reminded me why I am privileged to be a titleholder within the Miss Connecticut Organization. As we rode in the parades all weekend people would point to us and say to their children, "look at the princesses!". So by our third parade I was basically used to that comment as well as the standard pageant wave we would receive from the people we waved at. But in Thomaston as Nancy and I were riding in the convertable this little girl with curly blond hair and the brightest blue eyes turned to her mom and said "Mommy look at the princesses!" so in return I said "Hello girlie!" and her face lit up, her jaw dropped and her eyes were as wide as a kid in a candy store. And that is what our organization is all about! Providing positive role models for today's youth, and it was at that moment I remembered why I do pageants and participate in this scholarship organization. It is because we give young girls something to aspire to become, even if they don't wish to be a title holder they learn to strive and become successful by holding confidence within themselves.

Now that I've given you my little anecdote I would like to thank Phyllis and Ron for being there all weekend as well as Burlington, Woodburry, Thomaston and Harwington for having our Organization be apart of their parades. It was an honor to be a part of each of your events. I would also like to thank Frank for driving me around all weekend and finally Nancy, Annalisa, Maggie, Melissa and Brianna for keeping me entertained along the parade route all weekend!!

As Miss Connecticut is drawing closer I plan to keep you all updated as much as possible!! I have my commencement on Friday morning where I will then no longer be a high school student =(. Depressing I know. Saturday I will be at the sub base in Groton for our first mandatory Miss CT rehearsal and I am so looking forward to that! So I will write as soon as possible, I swear!! But for now, here are some pictures from my exciting weekend!!

Hallo All, I'm Alive!!

So my school musical "The Mystery of Edwin Drood" is over, at long last!! Though I now may get some resemblance of a life back I am extremely upset to close this chapter of my life- after all it was my last high school production! As commencement draws near my exams are looking at me in the face and I am not looking forward to those either!! I have chosen to be a freshman at Hofstra University in the fall where I will be double majoring in Theatre Arts and Advertising. I have 3 proms coming up within the next 2 weeks, a photoshoot for Miss Connecticut, 3 Advanced Placement Exams and many a Ultimate Frisbee Tournament to manage. And though my busy life hasn't allowed me to blog over the past month, I am back and as Edwin Drood would say "Hallo all, I'm alive!!"

Yes, the rumors are false, I am sorry to disappoint you- I have not dropped off the face of the earth, I have just been trying to fit everything I love into my extremely hectic life! I'm taking in the last of my senior year and I am beginning to become extremely un-okay with the fact that I have only 9 days of classes left. I truly don't want to leave my comfort zone and embark on a totally new experience all by myself, because honestly that's extremely terrifying. But hopefully college will be amazing and not traumatizing as my pessimistic attitude is building it up to be! And I was being a drama queen, I will not be alone at Hofstra. My roommate will actually be Cassandra Mastrianni, Miss Northeast 2008! I am thrilled to be rooming with her in the fall!!!

But let's reminisce shall we?! Crowns for a Cause was a HUGE success!! I would finally like to take this opportunity to thank EVERYONE involved!!! My performers, volunteers & sponsors- all your help was appreciated more than you know and I am proud to say we received sizable donations to be given to both "The Children's Miracle Network", and "Make-A-Wish Foundation". So thanks again to everyone involved!!!

I think that's it for now, and I promise to be more loyal to my blog!

Crowns for a Cause! - It's Almost Here!

Hello Everyone!!!
I am thrilled that the planning for Crowns for a Cause has been going so amazingly!! As I sit here this morning looking at the program I am in awe of the fabulous turnout and the spectacular talent we have in this showcase!! We have Miss Connecticut Diamonds, Outstanding Teen's and even a couple Miss Contestants! This goes to show the amazing support system the Miss Connecticut family provides! I hope to see EVERYONE on Sunday March 30th, 2008 at 6:00pm!!! We pushed the time ahead due to the Miss Connecticut Mandatory Manual Distribution but, as a child who grew up as a performer I learned one valuable rule : "THE SHOW MUST GO ON!!" =)

So I can only hope after the manual distribution everyone will drive to the Fulkerson Art's Center at Chase Collegiate School to not only enjoy a great show, but also come together to benefit two amazing organizations- "The Make-A-Wish Foundation" & "The Children's Miracle Network"!

Maybe a another incentive is the fact that I'm emceeing the evening- I have some great jokes I've been practicing!! =). But, I am thrilled to be in charge of such a fun and fufilling effort which will do much good for my issue of concern!!! Crowns for a Cause promies to be a great event so I hope to see you all there!!!

XOXO Alex <3
